Not every CNC problem is a post processor problem. Sometimes the machine is throwing an alarm because of a controller parameter, sometimes the toolpath itself is the issue at the CAM strategy level, and sometimes it really is bad G-code output. Knowing which layer the problem lives in is most of the battle — and it's the first thing we work out before touching anything.
Alarms tied to compensation errors (G40/G41/G42), tool length/diameter mismatches, over-travel, and servo faults that only appear during specific move types. We trace these back to whether the root cause is in the controller parameters, the post processor's G-code output, or the CAM toolpath strategy itself.
When a part comes out with the wrong geometry, extra material left on, or gouging in places it shouldn't — the cause is often a CAM strategy setting (stepover, tolerance, lead-in/out) rather than the machine itself. We review the toolpath strategy alongside the post output to isolate it.
Chatter can come from feeds and speeds, tool holding, fixture rigidity, or a toolpath strategy that's too aggressive for the material and tool combination. We look at spindle load data and cut parameters together rather than guessing at a single fix.
Cutter compensation (G41/G42) problems are one of the most common sources of scrapped parts — usually from a post processor that isn't outputting compensation the way your specific controller expects it.
You send us the machine alarm code or a description of the problem, the CAM software and toolpath in question, and ideally the NC file. We diagnose at whichever level the problem actually lives — controller parameter, post processor, or CAM strategy — and give you a written explanation of the root cause along with the fix, not just a patched file.
For fast, single-issue problems, we can usually get a diagnosis and corrected file back to you within hours. For deeper or recurring issues, it's a technical support engagement scoped to the problem.
Reach out with your alarm code or a description of the problem — we'll get you a diagnosis and corrected file back fast.
